For Practitioners

The Dreamreading Workshops

The Dreamreading workshops are designed for practitioners who are already trained in a therapeutic modality, and who would like to work with their client’s dream material in a systematic way.

The workshops are led by Christopher Sowton, N.D., a psychotherapist and classical homeopath who specializes in dreamwork.

Workshop participants  are trained by watching videotaped dreamwork sessions of actual clients telling and exploring their dreams within a clinical setting.

The goal of the workshops is to develop proficiency in the recognition of dream motifs. This takes repeated practice, so participants are given the opportunity to work on a variety of different dreams at each workshop.

Participants are encouraged to use the Dreamreading Manual, both during the workshops, and as a clinical reference work within their own practices.

The Dreamreading Manual

The Dreamreading Manual has been designed for practitioners who would like to develop their dreamworking skills, in order to better facilitate clients finding insight into their dreams.

The system laid out in the Manual is based on recognition of certain motifs which occur frequently in dreams. Once a practitioner recognizes a motif they immediately gain a sense of orientation as to what the psyche is trying to accomplish or communicate, and also why it may be having trouble doing so.

In the Dreamreading Manual there is a particular emphasis on dream motifs which have relevance for health care and healing. The potential of dreams to be used in the service of health care is enormous, and still largely untapped.
